More Halloween Fun!

Our Pre-K Music Makers

We have been continuing to have fun with our Halloween songs and games.  We worked on taking turns singing solos in our 5 Little Pumpkins song. You can't have Halloween fun with out a Monster Mash!  We had a great time with our Monster Mash play-a-long. We also had fun making funny faces pretending we were jack-o-lanterns with the song Did You Ever See a Pumpkin?
Check out our jack-o-lantern faces below!

Our Nursery Music Makers

Our Nursery students are busy singing and playing along with the Fiddle Collection.  This week we added a little Halloween fun to our Music Together classes and had a Ghost Busters and Monster Mash play-a-long.  Check out our Monster Mash video below!

Music Together At Home

Have a dance party with your child at home! Children love to move and moving to music allows a child to develop his/her coordination and sense of rhythm.  Make sure you are dancing along too.  Your participation makes a positive impression on your child and it's really fun!

Week of October 15

Our PreK Music Makers

Having fun with Halloween!

Our PreK class has been having all sorts of fun learning Halloween songs, chants and playing Halloween singing games.  We have been working on our Five Little Pumpkins song and have added instrumental sound effects.  We have been practicing and taking turns listening for our cues to add the sound effects to our song.  This is an important skill as part of a musical ensemble.
Check out our 5 Little Pumpkins video below and ask your child to teach you the song!

Our Nursery Music Makers

Our Nursery class is continuing to enjoy the songs from our Music Together Fiddle Collection.  Over the last couple of weeks we were introduced to four new songs/ chants: Sounds of Fall, Walking Song,  Can You Do This? and Going to Boston.  Check out our Sounds of Fall video below.

We had lots of fun with the vocal exploration at the end of this chant!

Music Together at Home

Music time at home can be anytime during your day.  Have fun with the Music Together Fiddle Collection throughout your day. While preparing dinner, you and your child can sing together and use kitchen utensils as rhythm instruments (try Sweet Potato and No More Pie) .  Bath time is a great time for songs and chants, and bedtime is perfect for lullabies like Shenandoah and Shady Grove.

The video below is a great example of how to incorporate music throughout your day! The Nursery class was introduced to Can You Do This? this week.

It's Pumpkin Time!

Our PreK Music Makers

October is here and we have started working on pumpkin and Halloween songs, chants and musical games. In the midst of all this fun, we are focusing on feeling the beat in duple and triple meters and singing the melody of various songs with a sustained singing voice.

Moving and playing along to various types of music helps the children to develop their sense of rhythm and coordination.  We love our play-alongs!

Our Nursery Music Makers

Our Nursery class is continuing to be introduced to songs from our Music Together Fiddle Collection.
This week we started working on Los Fandangos, Walking Song and Old King Cole in addition to the other Fiddle songs we have begun learning.  Pop in the CD or open the Music Together App and sing along at home!

Before we sing goodbye at the end of every Music Together class, we always take some time to enjoy a lullaby to settle ourselves.  We love Shenandoah and Shady Grove from the Fiddle Collection.  Try them at bedtime at home.

Here we are sharing our Shenandoah lullaby with friends.

Music Together At Home

Have you noticed the tonal and rhythm patterns that sometimes follow songs in the Fiddle Collection?  Please don't skip over these while listening to the songs.  Tonal patterns introduce your child to chordal structures and the rhythm patterns isolate the rhythm and allow your child to mimic and experiment with various rhythms and beats.  They are like musical vitamins!
