Week of February 24

Welcome to HCA Joyful Music

Featuring Our Pre-K and Nursery Music Makers

Over the last few weeks, our Nursery and Pre-K students have been introduced to jazz music.  The children listened to the book When Louis Armstrong Taught Me to Scat and had some fun singing scat phrases and creating their own scat rhythms.

They also enjoyed listening and playing along to Louis Armstrong's music.  On Tuesday, February 25, we had a Mardi Gras parade in the early childhood hallway.  The children especially enjoyed playing and marching along to Louis Armstrong's When the Saints Go Marching In.

The Pre-K students are learning to identify instruments commonly used in jazz music including the string bass, trumpet, trombone, clarinet and saxophone.

The Nursery 3 class and the Pre-K class are also busy preparing to lead the school in a Lenten prayer service on next Wednesday, March 4.   The children will be singing two songs, Peace in My Fingers and Lean on Me, for the prayer service and they are excited to be leading the school in song and prayer.
