Welcome to HCA Joyful Music
Featuring our Pre-K and Nursery Music Makers
This has been a busy and exciting week in the Early Childhood Division at HCA. On March 4, our Nursery and Pre-K students led the school community in a prayer service for the first week of Lent. The children did a wonderful job leading everyone in prayer and song. They really enjoyed singing Peace in My Fingers and Lean on Me.
In addition to practicing for the prayer service, the Nursery 3 and Pre-K were introduced to the music of jazz musician Trombone Shorty, a.k.a. Troy Andrews. They listened to the story entitled Trombone Shorty written by Troy Andrews. They watched and listened to performances by the artist. The children enjoyed singing along and pretended to play the trombone. Here they are singing along with Trombone Shorty to the song St. James Infirmary.
Our Nursery 2 students have discovered a favorite new rhythmic chant. The nursery rhyme Humpty Dumpty naturally lends itself to a beat in triple meter. The children love pretending to be Humpty Dumpty and falling over. Even more fun is being put back together by having your toes tickled. Check out the video and try this fun chant at home. I am sure you will be met with cries of "again, again" just as we are at school.
