Week of February 22

 Welcome to HCA Joyful Music

Featuring our Early Childhood Music Makers

February has been a busy month in our Early Childhood music classes.  In addition to Nursery 3, Pre-K, and Kindergarten preparing to lead the school in Lenten prayer services, the children have been having fun listening to jazz music and learning about famous jazz artists.  Throughout the school year the children are introduced to a variety of genres and cultures in music.  During February, for Black History Month, we make a point to focus on jazz music.  The children have been introduced to a variety of jazz artists: Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, John Coltrane and a personal favorite of mine, Trombone Shorty.  We have been playing, singing and scatting along with these artists.

Nursery 2 always loves a play along.  In this video, the children are jamming to Fanfare from Trombone Shorty's Parking Lot Symphony album.  Click here to view the video.

Our Nursery 3 and Pre-K students spent time over the last couple of weeks preparing to lead the entire school community in a Lenten prayer service on February 26th.  They did a wonderful job! The children were so sweet singing the Five Finger Prayer Song.  If you would like to sing it with your child at home, you will find the YouTube link here.

The Kindergarten class is now busy preparing to lead the school in prayer on Friday, March 5th.  We began working on the song Gift to You and the children have really taken to it.
