Preparing for Christmas

Our PreK Music Makers

This week we have begun to talk about Advent and Christmas and the meaning of the celebrations.
The children started learning Advent songs, Christmas poems and are busying preparing for our Christmas Show.  We will be preforming with our Kindergarten and Lower School friends on the evening of  Monday, December 17 and the next morning for Grandparents Day.
We are doing a great job preparing for the show!

Our Nursery Music Makers

The children have been introduced to the entire Fiddle Collection and we have loved every minute of it!  We hope you are having as much fun with it at home as we are at school.  While we continue with our Fiddle fun, we are also preparing to sing at Grandparents Day on the morning of December 18.  Our Nursery students will open the show with a song to put us in the Christmas spirit
                                                                  and warm our hearts.

With the Christmas season upon us, we have also introduced a Christmas carol
here and there in music class.
You can check out our Santa Claus Is Coming to Town play-along video below.

We are Thankful!

Our Pre-K Music Makers

Our PreK class as been busy discussing what it meaning to be thankful. We have been singing and chanting songs and poems in preparation for Thanksgiving. Our songs include We Are Thankful, He's Got the Whole World in His Hands, The Turkey is a Funny Bird,  and  God Made the Earth, a rhythmic poem.  See the video of our creation poem below!

The children have also begun working on their song for the Holy Child Christmas Pageant.  Mark your calendars for Monday evening, December 17.  Our Pre-K students will be singing the song,  Journey to Bethlehem,  as part of our Lower School Christmas Pageant.

Our Nursery Music Makers

We are having so much fun in our Music Together classes.  The children are really getting to know the songs and are singing and moving right along with our teachers. In the past few weeks we have introduced a few new songs: This Little Light of Mine, Singing Everyday, and No More Pie.
Check out our No More Pie video below.  (This might be a good song for you after your Thanksgiving dinner!)

Music Together at Home

Isn't it interesting that children learn to talk naturally by simply immersing them in language? You are your child's model for language and by providing an environment rich in language, you see them progress and become fluent.  You are also a model for your child's musical development. If you immerse your child in music, they will naturally learn to sing and dance. It's not about the quality of performance but rather that you share a fun music making experience with your child, giving your child the opportunity to see you enjoying the music with them.

With that in mind, we are planning a Music Together Family Music Making Event.  Last week I emailed you a brief survey in order to plan the event for a time that is convenient for most people.  If you have not yet responded,  I would appreciate your input on the survey.  It will help in planning a fun and successful event.  To those of you that have already responded, thank you for your feedback.
