Week of December 10

Christmas is Coming!

Our Pre-K Music Makers

We are continuing to rehearse for our Christmas Show on December 17.  All of the PreK are doing well and some of our more quiet students have discovered their singing voices.
We can't wait to perform for all of you!

We have learned an Advent song which we sing when we "light" our Advent wreath during class.  Check out our He Is Coming video below and ask your child to teach you the song.  Perhaps you can make it a part of your Advent celebration this season.

Our Nursery Music Makers

Our Nursery students are continuing to work on our songs for Grandparents' Day.  This week we visited the HCA music room for the very first time ever and sang while Ms. Brown accompanied us on the piano.  We were fabulous and are very excited about performing on Grandparents' Day.  The children also enjoyed experimenting with some of the drums in the music room while Ms. Brown played the piano.  It was so much fun.  Thank you Ms. Brown!

Our Music Together Fiddle semester is coming to an end.  When the children return in January, we will begin a new semester of Music Together.  You will all be receiving the Drum Collection CD the first week we return from break.  New music, Yay!

Music Together At Home

Thanks for all those families that joined us for our Family Music Event on December 11.  I really enjoyed singing with all of you and I hope you did too.  The children told me they had lots of fun.
We will be hosting a similar event next semester with our Drum Collection.  I will be sure to let you know the date well in advance of the event.

Here's a bit of our Lauren's Waltz play-a-long from the event on Tuesday.

If you think you might be interested in registering for a Music Together parent & child class, please
email me at jclay@holychildacademy.com.  We are considering offering a class here at Holy Child Academy starting mid-March.  The class would be 45 minutes once a week after school and run for 10 weeks.

Week of December 3

Christmas Anticipation!

Our Pre-K Music Makers

Our Pre-K students are continuing to enjoy Christmas and Advent songs, activities and poems during music class.  We have been having fun with some Christmas carols as well. We always love a good play along.  Here we are enjoying Rocking Around the Christmas Tree.

The hard work for our Christmas show continues! The children are becoming comfortable being on stage and singing.  We are working hard for our big night on Monday, December 17 and Grandparents Day on the 18th.

Our Nursery Music Makers

As we finish up our Fiddle semester, we are having fun and learning lots in our music class.
Mississippi Cats has been a class favorite this semester.  It is a great rhythmic chant with a swing beat and the children love the scatting.  Check out the video below.

We are also preparing for our Nursery world premier at Grandparents Day.  We were on stage for the first time this week to practice our songs for Grandparents Day.  The children were so excited and impressed by being on stage.  We will continue our practices on stage so we can wow all of our grandparents on Grandparent's Day.

Music Together At Home

I am so pleased that so many of you can attend our Family Music Event this coming Tuesday, December 11 at 3:30 p.m. in the MPR.  To date, we have 45 people attending, including: moms, dads, brothers, sisters, grandparents, teachers and of course our Nursery students.  If you have not responded to the evite, it's not too late.  Here is the link to the invitation  http://evite.me/bcnKrjCxmj
