Week of January 18

Welcome to HCA Joyful Music

Featuring Our Early Childhood Music Makers

After our Christmas vacation and virtual learning, the children are all getting settled back into school routines, including the routines of music class.  We are having fun with winter themes in songs, chants and movement.

Our Nursery 2 class welcomes two new students, Dara and Rowan! We are all enjoying getting to know our new friends.
Welcome Dara!

Welcome Rowan!

To help the children get back into routines of music class Nursery 2 has been reviewing our instrument sets, how to identify, play and care for the instruments.  We are also reviewing taking out one instrument at a time and putting them away when asked.

Our Nursery 3 class has been having fun with some dramatic play.  The children enjoyed acting out the rhythmic chants A Chubby Little Snowman and Three Little Fishes.
They had fun taking turns and pretending to be a hungry bunny eating the chubby snowman's nose while the class performed the chant.

Our Pre-K students have been introduced to the Boomwhackers (plastic pitched tubes that are played by tapping them on the ground).  They have been experimenting with tonal patterns in the C Major scale.

Our Kindergarten students are continuing to work on reading and writing rhythmic notation.  We are working on identifying eighth note pairs and quarter notes and playing patterns to a steady beat.  This week they began learning to write rhythmic notation. They did a great job as you can see below!

Winter Blues?
 Sing and dance them away!

Did you know, like exercise, singing and dancing releases endorphins which are a natural mood booster?  So if the winter blahs are getting you down, turn on your favorite playlist and sing and dance them away.
