Week of September 21

Welcome to HCA Joyful Music

Featuring our Early Childhood Music Makers

The children have been busy the first few weeks of school.  The boys and girls are doing very well learning the new protocols and procedures this year brings.  We have been getting to know each other as we chant, sing and move in music class.  Over the last couple of weeks, we have been focusing on the care and use of instruments.  For health and safety, each child has their own set of percussion instruments for music class.  The children have been having fun experimenting with each instrument, discovering different ways they can be played and the different sounds they make.  They are learning to take out one instrument at a time and put it away when asked.

Our Nursery 2 & 3 instrument sets include a shaky egg, jingle bells, a pool noodle scraper (which sounds like a sandpaper block when the two pieces are rubbed together) and a scarf for creative movement.

Our Pre-K and Kindergarten instrument sets include a shaky egg, a pool noodle scraper, rhythm sticks and a scarf for creative movement.

The children look forward to playing
their instruments each music class.

Our Pre-K is using their instruments with the Sounds of  Fall chant.

Nursery 3 loves music class.  Playing instruments is so much fun!

Using a scarf for movement and vocal exploration is lots of fun!  Our Nursery 2 class agrees!

Below the Kindergarten students are learning to feel different meters as they play their rhythm sticks to the chant Splishing and Splashing.  This chant has both a duple and triple meter feel.
